There is a podcast for everything, even for people who love board games. I sat down with the guys from ALL US GEEKS to talk about their show, there particular niche for geek and everything else that goes into building a podcast. Pay attention to how they market their show, they use their interests to build interests. Forums, Cons, Word of mouth and even Kickstarter. I think the thing to take away from this episode is, if you want people to talk about your podcast then you have to talk about it first! Enjoy! Untill Next time... Tim Keaty from "Surfing Aliens" tells us that one trick to building up a listening audience is to release 3 episodes of your podcast at once! Once you've recorded your practice podcast and listened back to it in shame...then record again, and again, and again! If you're proud of these episodes, and make sure that you are, they will represent to all your listners new and future, what your show will be. Release them all at once. This will show up on iTunes and instantly give your potential podcast listener a reason to hit the SUBSCRIBE button! |

Social Media Marketing is the name of the podcast our guest Michael Stelzner is from, so of course we talk all things Marketing in this episode of Podcasting101. Are spreading the word of your podcast across all social media platforms? Also, how important is the written blog in the world of podcasting. Michael says that's easy, your podcast feed is already a blog...use it! Social Media Marketing has been out for just over a year and already has over a million downloads. It's averaging 21,000 downloads a week now. If you're looking for those types of numbers than I suggest you sit back, relax and enjoy the next 45 minutes! Oh, take notes if you'd like, I did! Thanks for all the downloads everyone! Just counting the downloads from our first FULL Month, you've helped us get over 9,100 downloads! That is amazing! Thanks so much for spreading the word via your social media outlets, it's helped a lot! Also, for all of you have subscribed via iTunes and written such nice things I thank you! For well over a year now I've been getting asked questions about podcasting and it's something that I absolutley fell in love with so it's nice to see that people are enjoying the show and learning from it. Building your podcasting audience is a constent struggle. Even when your doing good, you want to do better! Tyler Smith is the host of Battleship Pretension, a podcast that delves deep into the structure and theory of film. Co-host David Bax (absent) and Tyler have built their podcast for the last 6 years and still struggle to get it to a place they are happy with. This is a common theme amongst podcasters, What defines a successfull podcast, A small legion of loyal listeners or is it just a numbers game? Does a large number of downloads define success? Of course our guest is the host of a movie podcast so there this episode is layered in a bit of film talk but we also talk Equipment as well as spend some time on how to market a podcast. This is an always changing, ever evolving creature in the podcasting world. If there is one way that will always show results, big or small, seems to be the guest host. With a guest host brings the possiblity of their fans following them to the show and if they like what they hear, perhaps they'll subscribe and stick around. If you're a smart podcaster you're always learning and always adapting. If you're a new podcaster...hit the subscribe button and listen to this episode and the episodes that have come before it. Everyone runs thier show a little bit different. It's not really what's right and wrong (don't get me wrong, there are both) but it's how you use the information handed to you and make it work for your show! As always, we'd love to hear from you! Limited Release is a podcast about all things webseries. Candice and Nick come on over to Monkey Poo Studios via Skype to fill us in how they run thier show. This is an interesting listen for those that want to do a show with barely any Post Production. They teach us how to get all your sound files at the ready and play them as you record. How do you feel about editing? Some think it's a must...others don't. We discuss this and so much more. Enjoy! -AG |

Radio Drama Creator/Writer/Producer of the awesome We're Alive! Podcast joins us to talk about his show. We get a behind the scenes tour of how he produces his show. We talk screenwriting for the radio drama, he gives us insite as to how he schedules his team of sound designers, actors and editors. The great thing about his story is he started out small just like all of us. He had a dream of telling a great story and built his audience by word of mouth. 20 listeners here...another 30 there. It took a while for him to reach the audience he has now. Millions of downloads to be exact. Hard work pays off. We're Alive is now part of the Nerdist Network and deservedly so. We want to hear from you! Subscribe to Podcasting101 on iTunes or like us on Stitcher Radio. Let us know what you think of this podcast. Podcasters using Skype for their interviews will want to listen to this one. The hosts of Beyond The 140, a play on the amount of characters allowed on Twitter, run thier whole podcast off of Skype. They are both in 2 seperate states. They've never even met. Every week they invite someone who's "Twitter Famous" to come on their show and have a chat. We also talk a lot about scheduling a show. Keeping in constent contact with the guest leading up to the interview is key. Having a Pre-show call is also very benificial. It helps all 3 get close like freinds. This show's in the interview. @IAmDelFreaky and @JCWisdomNuggets have got a lot of great nuggets (pun intended) to share with first time podcasters or any podcaster for that matter. If you're looking to do more interviews or want a good template to create for you to manage your show's upcoming interviews then you can learn a lot from these guys!
